For a haulage company in Sherrington, close to Milton Keynes, we constructed a concrete yard to help support their business, especially with large lorries manoeuvring outside their company building. By constructing this large concrete base for lorries, it allows them to be easily unloaded and loaded from their warehouse.
This project started with breaking out the existing concrete lorry park to make way for the new concrete yard. To remove the old concrete we used a digger and concrete breaker; this allowed us to get ready to lay the new foundation.
To finish this initial stage, we removed all the old concrete and debris with the use of a grab lorry. This clearance enabled us to excavate the area outside their warehouse to a depth of approximately 400mm.
After the area had been excavated, we could then begin installing roughly 16m of S100 heavy-duty Aco drains, laid on a bed of concrete. Over which, we then lay 250mm of type one stone across the 160sqm area; this was compacted with rollers in 100mm layers.
The finishing touches included laying 150mm of Gen 3 concrete with A393 grade reinforced steel mesh.
As an extra, we also installed a new manhole in the concrete yard. This helps to provide the haulage company with important access when maintenance or installation work is required.
"Just to compliment you and Bryn and his apprentice on an excellent job, very quick and efficient and helpful, pleasant, and thanks for the extra drains and post. It was worth the wait!
Thank you very much!"
